Forming an LLC in Arkansas

Forming an LLC in Arkansas in 7 easy steps

  1. Select a name for your LLC. The name must be unique, i.e. not used by any other LLC, and you must of course refrain from trademark violations. According to Arkansas state law, the name must also include a Limited Liability Company identifier, such as LLC, L.L.C. or Ltd Liability Company.
  2. Hire an attorney to check your Operating Agreement. This step is not required by Arkansas state law, but poorly written Articles of Organization can lead to problems with the IRS in the future. Hiring an attorney is a way of reducing the risk of taxation problems further down the road.
  3. File your Articles of Organization at the Arkansas State filing office. The minimum LLC filing fee is $50.00 Arkansas. (For 30 business days.)
  4. Call the members (owners) of you LLC to an Organizational Meeting where you adopt the Operating Agreement.
  5. Get a Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) for your LLC.
  6. Open up a bank account for your company.
  7. Apply for licenses and permits. Remember to apply in all cities and countries where you wish to do business.
